When you turn on Intrusion Detection System (IDS) on IPCOP 1.4.21, the Snort won’t get updated due to changes on Snort update mechanism.
To make Snort update work as it should, follow these steps:
Go to http://www.ipcop.pd.it/download.html#patch (It is in Italian, but no worry)
1. Download “ipcop-patch-ids-1.4.21.tar.gz”
2. Transfer it to IPCOP server with Winscp
3. Extract the contents of the archive using
$ tar xzf ipcop-patch*
4. Change to the extracted directory.
$ cd patch*
5. Install using:
$ ./setup
6. Enter s when presented with a (s/n) prompt. (I assume s=Si).
You may need to reboot your IPCOP server after the setup.
